Annual
Leadership Convention
L
eaders in the trucking industry gathered on September 22–24 at Eagle
Crest Resort in Redmond, OR for OTA’s annual Leadership Convention.
Perfectly aligned with the theme, “Today’s Strategies for Tomorrow’s
Success,” attendees heard from speakers about new automated truck
technology, improving leadership skills, government updates, human
trafficking prevention in the trucking industry, ATA updates, and the
economy to help attendees plan for next year. Although each speaker had his
or her own flair, highlights included a well-received legislative panel to discuss
upcoming changes in government affairs and a presentation from Dallas
Seavey, the youngest Iditarod champion who talked about his struggle and
success with building his award-winning dog sled race team.
We held our annual meeting where the new 2017 Board of Directors was
selected. During the awards dinner, our President, Jana Jarvis, had the
pleasure of announcing our Carrier Member of the Year—A & M Transport,
Inc. and Allied Member of the Year—Jennifer King with WHA Insurance.
Congratulations for your strong involvement with OTA! Our musical guest
performed a series of old country/bluegrass songs and concluded our dinner
reception with a song salute to veterans. New this year was an on-site
Chairman’s reception after dinner as an opportunity for members to get to
know each other. We look forward to seeing everyone again at Salishan on
September 13–15, 2017!
