project owners who completed outstanding projects.

Replacing the two 60-plus-year-old concrete runways at the Davenport
Municipal Airport meant shutting the airport for 30 days while the area
in which the runways intersect was reconstructed which limited the
contractor’s time to rebuild the longer of the runways to 30 days.
In spite of 18 days in the first 40 days of construction along with
unexpected soil condition, reconstruction of Runway 10/28 following
the deterioration of the 8-inch, 25-year-old runway was completed in
only 15 weeks.

When the O’Hare Modernization Program is complete, O’Hare will
have eight runways, including six east-west parallel runways and two
crosswinds runways. Although this project was the contractor’s first
airport paving, the use of stringless paving and dowel bar inserters
were two technologies that led to successful completion.
