American Traffic Safety Services Association

GOVERNMENT

RELATIONS

Meet the new members of the U.S. House

Transportation and Infrastructure Committee and the

U.S. Senate Environment and Public Works Committee

This year marks the first session of the 115th Congress, and with a

new session of Congress comes new members and committee

assignments. ATSSA works closely with members of the U.S. House

Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure (T&I) and the U.S.

Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works (EPW) on

pertinent issues affecting the roadway safety industry, including the

surface transportation reauthorization. The relationships that ATSSA

has forged with these committee members have been critical to the

inclusion of roadway safety infrastructure initiatives in several

iterations of transportation reauthorization bills, such as funding for

the Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP) in the Fixing

America’s Surface Transportation (FAST) Act. ATSSA is dedicated

to maintaining strong relationships with returning committee

members as well as educating and building new relationships with

the committees’ newcomers, many of whom are serving their first

term in Congress.

“I look forward to working with my colleagues to

protect our nation’s environment while rolling

back unnecessary EPA regulations that harm

economic growth. I also stand ready to work with

the committee and the Trump administration to

bring infrastructure into the 21st century both in

Alabama and across the country.”

“This new role will give me the ability to make an

impact on the daily lives of every Kansan, from

the roads, bridges, and highways they use to get

to work and school to the infrastructure they

depend on to run successful farms. The

Committee on Environment and Public Works

plays a unique role in shaping energy and

infrastructure policies that impact our ag

community and fighting harmful ideas like

re-listing the lesser prairie chicken as an

endangered species or the administration’s

misguided WOTUS rule.”

“As a member of the Senate Environment and

Public Works Committee, I look forward to

advocating for policies that put Illinoisans back to

work rebuilding our state’s infrastructure to

secure Illinois’ role as the nation’s transportation

hub and supporting policies that grow our

country’s economy by promoting advanced clean

energy and biofuels which reduce our reliance on

foreign oil and strengthen our national security”
