The U.S. dollar has the potential to hit 1:1 with

the Euro (it was $1 to €0.95 in early January) so

if you’ve ever wanted to go to Europe, now’s

the time to go. Airfares, especially international

ones, are going down but air add-ons are going

up. United and Delta now have basic economy

fares—basically middle seats with no date

changes and a fee for using the overhead

compartment.

On a positive note, American workers are

finally realizing that taking their vacation

time is beneficial to their health. According

to the Huffington Post’s William Chalmers

“wellness travel is growing 50 percent faster

than regular travel, with travelers recognizing

that recharging, refreshing, and rejuvenating

themselves regularly is part of a health work-

life balance.”

Today’s travelers are accustomed to find

what they need in the palm of their hand so

technology and accessibility of information

remain crucial. Using virtual reality to bring the

location to the traveler started gaining traction

at the end of 2016 and is expected to be

exploited further in 2017.

However, at the end of the day, trends,

technology, innovation or design are not as

important as empowering those who work

in your hospitality business to be better at

delivering genuine hospitality.
