Following a second Traffic Signals Open Forum held in Tampa, ATSSA will bring the proposal of adding a traffic signals division to the association’s board of directors. Student winners from ATSSA/TRB’s Traffic Control Device Challenge presented their roadway safety innovations to ATSSA members during the 49th Annual Convention & Traffic Expo. FailSafe-ERA’s Juanita Shanks and ATSSA’s Donna Clark signed a program agree- ment, launching the Right Roads Job Training and Placement Program. Networking and fun with a common goal There was no shortage of opportunities for members to network during ATSSA’s 49th Annual Convention & Traffic Expo. ATSSA members gathered for the Chairman’s Recep- tion on Feb. 9 and heard remarks from Arvizu. Newcomers to the roadway safety infrastructure industry were invited to participate in ATSSA’s first ever Young Industry Profes- sionals Reception on Feb. 11, and members of public agen- cies from across the country had an opportunity to share experiences and network with one another at the Public Agency Officials Reception on Feb. 10. The valuable connec- tions ATSSA members make at the event each year can last a lifetime, and have a meaningful impact on their business- es and the work they do. Giving back with The Foundation The week kicked off with The Foundation’s 28th Annual Golf Classic Tournament and 7th Annual Sporting Clays Event on Feb. 8. One hundred forty-four ATSSA members participat- ed in the golf tournament, and 146 members participated in the sporting clays event, raising funds that benefit The Foundation’s programs that support loved ones impacted by work zone incidents. “Thank you to those that joined us for the golf tournament and sporting clays event. These events are a lot of fun and are a great way to give back to The Foundation and support the important work it does for those impacted by work zone tragedies and their families,” said ATSS Foundation President David Krahulec. 3M hosted the Toward Zero Deaths Pledge Wall. For the first time, the wall was hosted online and gave members the op- portunity to make their donations digitally. Bidding for Lind- say Transportations Solutions’ charity auction kicked off during the Annual Convention & Traffic Expo, where Lindsay auctioned a TAU-M MASH Crash Cushion, donating all pro- ceeds to The Foundation. “We’re incredibly proud of the success of this year’s Annual Convention & Traffic Expo. Next year will be bigger and bet- ter than ever and ATSSA looks forward to seeing you in New Orleans in 2020,” said ATSSA’s Director of Meetings and Con- ventions Necoya Tyson. In 2020, ATSSA will host the 50th Annual Convention & Traf- fic Expo in New Orleans, Louisiana. This 50th anniversary celebration will be one you don’t want to miss.
