The first place team from University of Missouri shared their work on a vision-based pedestrian in- dicator light, the second place team, from Oregon State Uni- versity, shared their flashing yellow arrows countermeasure, and the third place team from Auburn High School and New- port High School presented their application of radio- frequency identification at signalized intersections in school zones. “Being able to co-host this competition with the Transporta- tion Research Board not only allows ATSSA to present a press- ing issue within the industry and conjure potential solutions,” said ATSSA Director of New Programs Brian Watson. “It also provides us the opportunity to encourage young minds to get more involved within the roadway safety industry and look ahead to possible future innovations.”
