Safer Roads Save Lives
Waterblasting Technologies President James Crocker (in paisley shirt) and the
Stripe-A-Zone team show off their winning medal at this year’s Stripe Hog
Fundraiser for the American Traffic Safety Services Foundation. The event was held
in conjunction with ATSSA’s 47th Annual Convention and Traffic Expo in Phoenix,
Arizona. “Traffic safety for the general public is certainly very important to us, and
starting out as contractors who still have a contracting division, work zone safety is
very close to our hearts, said David Friday, Waterblasting Technologies’ vice
president of sales and marketing. “We are always moved by the stories that stem
from the scholarships that The Foundation provide. This year we wanted to find a
creative way beyond the golf and skeet shooting events to make a difference in how
many scholarships were able to be given to the children of families involved in work
zone accidents. Our goal was to raise further awareness and funds for a wonderful
cause and we were thrilled with the outcome. Our hope is that these scholarships
make a difference in the future of these children.” Friday added, “Bragging rights
went to our top contributors including Stripe-a-Zone, who donated $6,000 and
Guidemark Incorporated who donated $4,000, with honorable mentions and $1,000
contributions by Parking Lot Painting, Valesco, Griffin Pavement Striping, Innovative
Marking Systems, Statewide Stripes and $500 contributions by American
Waterblasting Incorporated and Keystone Engineering. Those along with many other
contributions raised nearly $21,000 for The Foundation.”
3M Vice President John Riccardi was interviewed by ATSSA’s television crew on
Feb. 12 regarding 3M’s Traffic Safety and Security Division’s support to The
Foundation and the industry as they hosted, for the second consecutive year, the
3M Toward Zero Deaths Pledge Wall. The wall was located in the 3M lounge on the
Traffic Expo floor and generated $6,319.06 in donations at the Annual Convention.
3M graciously agreed to match up to $5,000 as well as providing an original $5,000
sponsorship. At show’s end, the pledge wall generated $16,319.06 in donations to
help support The Foundation’s many programs.
