OTA Dispatch Issue 4 2018

Oregon Trucking Associations, Inc. 24 Oregon Truck Dispatch OTA News NEWS Good Luck, Glenda It’s with honor that we send our team member, Glenda Ekblad, off to retirement. Glenda was Director of Accounting at OTA for over four years and has been an asset to our association. She has helped OTA restructure its accounting department, onboard new staff members, implement the database platform, and manage the OMSA group— all leading us on a better track to success. Glenda will be missed, and although we are sad to see her go, we wish her the very best in her new endeavors—including her upcoming cross-country travel plans with her husband, Bob! New Team Member, Ligia Visan That being said, we are thrilled to announce our new Director of Accounting! Ligia Visan graduated from Portland State University with a B.S. in Business Administration with emphasis in Accounting. She comes from from a trucking family and started working in the industry after graduation—first in billing/accounts receivable then as a financial officer/controller. Ligia’s hobbies include knitting, reading, gardening, and spending time with family. She also has an Oregon Tax Preparer License. Welcome to the team! Contact Ligia about invoices and billing questions at accounting@ortrucking.org . OTA Call on Washington Jana Jarvis, OTA President & CEO and OTA members Mike Card with Combined Transport, Mark Gibson with Siskiyou Transportation, Andy Owens with A & M Transport, Ryan Hutchens with American Freight, and Aaron Thomas with Thomas & Sons Distributors gathered in Washington, DC for our annual Call on Washington. The team got a chance to meet with members of Congress and their staff to discuss infrastructure funding, autonomous vehicles, workforce development and the DRIVE-Safe Act. Most meetings took place at the Capitol where there was an increased level of security for visitors. After a full day, OTA members joined with Pennsylvania Motor Truck Association and Alabama Trucking Association at the Swedish Embassy for a reception graciously hosted by TEC Equipment and Volvo. Although some of the group were unable to extend their trip, Mike, Ryan, and Andy had an opportunity to tour the Capitol the next day. We’d like to thank TEC Equipment and other OTA members that took time to join us during the very hot but productive event. Join us next year!
