NMDA Dental Directory 2021-22

2021–2022 Dental Directory 3 President’s Message As spoken by Maya Angelou, “Do the best you can until you know better. Then when you know better, do better.” It is a time for us all to evaluate our own unconscious biases and adjust—not only to have a growth mindset and an open mind, but to ask, “tell me more” or “help me understand.” Diversity in our profession fuels positive change. Our differences, whether cultural, age, gender, or practice model, will only serve as a catalyst to improve our dental community. Our profession would not be where it is today without the advocacy of organizations in dentistry such as the component societies, the NMDA, and the ADA. Behind the scenes, lobbyists are fighting for us, scientists are researching products, lawyers are advising us, and leaders from around the country are serving as mentors for younger dentists. This has value and it matters . Our state needs you to be supporters and activists to keep our profession on the cutting edge of what’s current and what’s relevant today . Our future depends on it. We are in a period where change is not only expected, but adaptability is a way of life. Proactive communication is the new standard we strive for. We are here for you as members and welcome your feedback, recommendations, and new ideas. We are a community, and I couldn’t be more pleased that we are all in this with a spirit of belonging—inclusively and diversely. Here’s to the beginning of a new chapter! Thank you sincerely, Kimberly Martin, DMD President, 2021–2022
