TRUCKING LEADERSHIP & SAFETY SUMMIT

OTA Members Gather for 2015 Trucking

Leadership & Safety Summit

Over 140 OTA members, non-members, speakers and others attended the

2015 Trucking Leadership & Safety Summit, held April 30–May 2 at Salishan

Spa & Golf Resort in Lincoln City. This year’s event, co-sponsored by OTA

and the Safety Management Council, featured sessions aimed at keeping

trucking on target, discussing the timely tools and topics available to the

industry. During the joint sessions, ATRI’s Dan Murray shared the latest

on the driver shortage dilemma that is still a huge concern for the trucking

industry, while keynote speaker & ATA Chair Duane Long spoke about

the new rules and regulations that are on the docket for 2015 and beyond.

Over the day-and-a-half event, attendees were able to select from two session tracks. Leadership sessions were

aimed at owners and executives who have to juggle various aspects of the overall picture, while safety sessions

brought into focus the practical application and adoption of rules, regulations, equipment, technology and more.

After a full day of presentations, attendees were able to relax on Friday night at the Member Appreciation dinner,

featuring Mr. Bill’s Traveling Trivia Show.

The final day of the Summit started off with the Safety Awards Banquet, where the following carriers and

individuals were recognized for the commitment and dedication to meeting and exceeding the safety standards

that are at the heart of keeping the trucking industry on track.

The Summit concluded with a quick update from OTA VP of Government Affairs Bob Russell, who talked about

the lively 2015 legislative session. Karmen Fore, Oregon Transportation Advisor, Office of the Governor, also

shared some insight around the plans for Oregon’s next transportation funding package and what priorities

Gov. Kate Brown is planning to focus on.

OTA would like to thank all of the attendees and speakers, as well as the following sponsors, who made the

2015 Trucking Leadership & Safety Summit such a huge success.
