OAHHS Fall/Winter 2018

8 2018 Lifetime Achievement Awards In2012, theOAHHSBoardofTrusteesestablishedtheOAHHSLifetimeAchievement Award, recognizing career-long leadership, service, and contribution to the health care field in Oregon by a senior leader of an OAHHS member organization. OAHHS does not give out a Lifetime Achievement Award annually, but only to leaders whose careers and contributions merit it. This award celebrates a hospital leader’s lifetime of service and continuing contribution to the health care of Oregon. The awards dual focus is the person’s outstanding and meritorious contribution to the hospital association and also their unique and impactful contribution to the hospital community throughout the state. Embedded in those two focuses is the sense that this is an exceptional leader, whose career mattered to their peers, whose contributions extended beyond the four walls of their hospital or health system, and whose legacy will be one of moving the hospital community and state’s health care system forward. In short, they are the sort of leaders every board tries to hire for, that every C-suite hopes to have, and that every public official hopes to partner with in driving towards a healthy society. Luckily for OAHHS, Oregon has a surplus of such hospital leadership. This year, the Association had four leaders receive the Lifetime Achievement Award, all of whom were uniquely and truly qualified for the award.
