Fall 2017

4 HCAOA The Voice MEMBER NEWS THANK YOU FOR TAKING THE TIME TO SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS WITH US in the 2017 Membership Satisfaction Survey. We strive to continue effectively and efficiently serving your needs as a home care business owner. The Sample With a great response rate to our survey, we had a very nice cross-section of businesses respond. Fifty percent of the responses came from owners of independent/non-franchise businesses, and 50% came from owners of franchise businesses. There was also an even spread on the demographics side, with 50% of male owners and 50% female owners of diverse ages completing the survey, both with a broad range of experience as well, from less than 1 year to 20+ years of experience. Big Picture Themes Advocacy Looking over the results, one thing is loud and clear—advocacy is the most important thing to our members. We also see that we have improved in our advocacy efforts, compared to last year. For an open-ended question asking about our general improvements from last year, one respondent answered, “HCAOA’s voice has grown,” and another said, “the legislative activities [are] leading to positive results.” We also see that, as the voice of home care, we are succeeding in addressing a need in the industry, since 70% of respondents said that they would “very likely,” and 21% would “somewhat likely” recommend HCAOA to a friend or colleague in the home care industry. When asked why they joined HCAOA, and to check all answers that apply, 88% of respondents chose “received critical legislative/regulatory information at the federal and state levels” and 81% chose “help advocate for needed changes within the industry.” The next highest response was 58% who said “gain credibility in the home care industry,” followed by 44% who said “participate in my state chapter.” For the information people find most valuable (check all that apply) a whopping 90% answered “state legislative and regulatory activities, including information in my state,” and 87% answered “Federal legislative and regulatory activities.” With new laws and regulations threatening in multiple states, it has been apparent to us that we can improve upon our already strong federal and state legislative efforts. This point was further emphasized in the survey results. In checking all options that apply to the question, 50% of respondents said we could improve upon “advocacy activities” and 44% said “state chapter meetings.” Webinars & Digital Library Webinars are also valuable to our members. For the question about the most important information HCAOA provides (check all that apply), 52% selected “webinars on industry related topics,” and for our specific question about webinar content, 73% opted for “legislation/advocacy,” 53% for “operations,” 43% for “marketing,” and 37% for “technology.” When asked about which HCAOA discount they are most likely to use, and to check all that apply, the highest percentage (85%) of respondents chose “webinar discounts.” 2017 Membership Satisfaction Survey: The Results Are In!
