American Traffic Safety Services Association 26 The Foundation Lindsay Transportation auctions TAU-M crash cushion Charity auction raises more than $20,000 to support The Foundation Help us help the kids. That was the mission for Lindsay Transportation Solu- tions in their charity auction, which they held to raise funds to support the Amer- ican Traffic Safety Services Foundation (ATSS Foundation). From Feb. 9-28, 2019, Lindsay Transpor- tationauctionedoff their first TAU-Mcrash cushion, raising just over $16,000with the winning bid. During their plaque presen- tation on May 6th, the winner of the auc- tion decided to round the auction dona- tion up to $20,000. The auction kicked off during ATSSA’s 49th Annual Convention & Traffic Expo, in Tampa, Florida. Ryan Samek of Lindsay Transportation Solutions spoke to the company’s deci- sion to host an auction supporting The Foundation. “It’s something that affects all of us—any- one driving down the road. Workers killed in work zones is something that impacts every one of us. This auction was a way that one of our products was able to give back to a cause that has, at one point or another, affected everybody that we work with every day,” said Samek. The Manual for Assessing Safety Hard- ware (MASH)- tested crash cushion is a lifesaving roadway safety infrastructure device used in work zones to protect motorists and roadway workers. It is the industry’s first redesigned TAU prod- uct in almost 20 years. The funds will be used to support The Foundation’s programs including the Roadway Worker Memorial Scholarship program, which provides post-secondary educational scholarships to dependents or spouses of roadway workers perma- nently disabled or killed in a work zone crash. “We’re so grateful to Lindsay Transpor- tation Solutions for hosting an auction to support the work of The Foundation. The success of the auction, which raised more than $20,000, would not have been possible without participation from bidders and many individuals who helped promote this event. Donations and events like this support the work The Foundation is doing in our mission to move Toward Zero Deaths, while sup- porting the loved ones of those impact- ed by work zone incidents,” said The Foundation’s President David Krahulec of Horizon Signal Technologies, Inc. Samek said the experience for the com- pany was positive and recommended it for any ATSSA member company that wanted a unique way to support The Foundation. “We would absolutely recommend host- ing an auction for The Foundation. The more people we can get to do an auc- tion, the more visibility to The Founda- tion’s efforts to support those impacted by work zone crashes,” said Samek.  For more information about the work The Foun- dation does, or how to host your own charity auc- tion to support The Foundation, contact Lori Diaz at lori.diaz@atssa.com.
