T R E E F A R M N E W S www.wvfa.org Spring 2019 |  West Virginia Forestry Association Mountain State Forestry 23 ON FEBRUARY 11, JOHN COBB JR. was presented the following resolution by the WV Senate, in recognition of outstanding achievement in forest management and in recognition of his having been chosen WV 2019 Outstanding Tree Farmer of the Year WHEREAS, John Cobb Jr. owns and manages a 327-acre Tree Farm in Lewis County, West Virginia, and WHEREAS, John Cobb Jr. was selected as West Virginia’s Outstanding Tree Farmer for 2019 by the West Virginia Tree Farm Committee and its State Sponsor, the West Virginia Forestry Association, and WHEREAS, this outstanding Tree Farmer made a formal commitment to sound forest management practices by enrolling in the West Virginia Tree Farm Program. WHEREAS, John Cobb Jr. is committed to the long-term productivity of his property by implementing a forest management program that promotes good growth, improve the overall quality of the property and generate income from the possible sale of forest products. WHEREAS, the John Cobb Jr. property is managing stands for wildlife habitat; including the Cerulean Warbler in a 10-acre project. WHEREAS, a primary objective of the WV Tree Farm Program is to successfully enhance wildlife and recreation. WHEREAS, it is the policy of this Legislature to recognize and commend outstanding West Virginians. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE, that we do hereby commend and congratulate John Cobb Jr. of Lewis County, West Virginia, upon being selected as the winner of West Virginia’s “Outstanding Tree Farmer Award for 2019” by the West Virginia Tree Farm Committee and the West Virginia Forestry Association and we extend to John Cobb Jr. our best wishes as they represent the State of West Virginia. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be furnished to John Cobb Jr. John Cobb Jr. – 2019 Outstanding WV Tree Farmer
