T R E E F A R M N E W S www.wvfa.org Spring 2018 |  West Virginia Forestry Association Mountain State Forestry 23 WHEREAS, Glen Chestnut owns and manages a 320-acre Tree Farm in Kanawha County, West Virginia, and WHEREAS, Glen Chestnut was selected as West Virginia’s Outstanding Tree Farmer for 2018 by the West Virginia Tree Farm Committee and its State Sponsor, the West Virginia Forestry Association, and WHEREAS, this outstanding Tree Farmer made a formal commitment to sound forest management practices by enrolling in the West Virginia Tree Farm Program. WHEREAS, Glen Chestnut is committed to the long-term productivity of his property by controlling Invasive species of tree-of-heaven and autumn olive. WHEREAS, the Glen Chestnut property is in the West Virginia Agricultural Enhancement Program; with a recent focus on a Cerulean Warbler 10-Acre project. WHEREAS, the primary objectives of Tree Farm are being successfully met to enhance wildlife and recreation. WHEREAS, it is the policy of this Legislature to recognize and commend outstanding West Virginians. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE, that we do hereby commend and congratulate Glen Chestnut of Kanawha County, West Virginia, upon being selected as the winner of West Virginia’s “Outstanding Tree Farmer Award for 2018" by the West Virginia Tree Farm Committee and the West Virginia Forestry Association and we extend to Glen Chestnut our best wishes as they represent the State of West Virginia.
