I N D U S T R Y N E W S www.wvfa.org Fall 2018 |  West Virginia Forestry Association Mountain State Forestry 9 WV Opportunity Zones Announced GOV. JIM JUSTICE AND U.S. SEN. SHELLEY MOORE CAPITO have announced that the U.S. Department of Treasury has certified 55 Opportunity Zones across West Virginia that will now be eligible for a new federal tax incentive designed to encourage private investors to make capital investments in those areas. Opportunity Zones were created and added to the federal tax code as a result of President Donald J. Trump’s Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017, that was approved by Congress on Dec. 22, 2017. Qualified Opportunity Zones retain the designation for 10 years.  NCIF Impact Report NCIF IS PROUD TO SHARE NATURAL CAPITAL INVESTMENT FUND’S (NCIF) Impact Report, which is now available online and for download. In 2017, they made a record $12.46 million in loans to 55 businesses and farms. NCIF active portfolio companies created or retained 614 jobs and delivered a wide range of positive social and environmental benefits.
