The re - quirements one must meet to achieve this status is the most difficult among the awards. This is the only reward that requires more than a simple majority, but a 2/3 vote by the Board of Direc - tors. In addition, you need to have served as a Chapter Officer of Committee member and have been a Corporate member for at least 10 years prior to the nomination. Therefore, I really feel that this award is given to the best of the best of us. Our sole recipi - ent for a life membership this year is Mr. John Thatcher. John has served as a Pioneer Chapter Officer and Chairman of the Board, as well as awarded for Surveyor of the Year in 2013. Our Outstanding Associate of the year is given to someone who has done exemplary work and demonstrated professionalism. This year’s recipient is known to set the bar high for those following in his footsteps. His commitment to young surveyors, contribu - tions to The Oregon Surveyor, and his dedication to the profession make this person a valuable member of our organization. Though he was recently licensed and moving into the ranks of Corporate Member, it is my pleasure to announce Leo Litowich as the Out - standing Associate for 2020.
