11 Professional Land Surveyors of Oregon | www.plso.org 2021 Annual Conference: Photo Contest Winners Ph to Contest Winners We got some amazing photo entries in the photo contest, which is a new addi - tion to the conference this year. We added the photo contest as a way to encourage community involvement in the virtual conference platform. The winners were chosen fromwho had the most “likes” on their photo by fellow attendees. We asked conference attendees to submit photos of things they experienced or saw in the Blake Whelchel, LSIT “This photo was taken about three years ago when I worked for Multi-Tech Engineering out of Salem, Oregon. My helper and I were collecting TOPO data for a proposed (now constructed) apartment complex in Albany, Oregon. The morning was cold but the rain didn’t start until we got on site and got set up. Once the rain started everything was covered in ice. The truck, roads, equipment, and the jackets on our backs all froze. I remember lifting my arm up after running the GPS rover for a while and hearing the ice break off my jacket. Shortly after the freezing rain stopped, the snow started. This job was by far my coldest day in the field. We stuck it out, concluded the day, and by 3:30 the ice and snow was gone. We made our sunny drive back to the office with the windows up and heater on! Got to love that Oregon weather.” field while they were out being a survey - or. We were hoping to get something that illustrated some aspect of being a survey - or, and we loved the entries that we got. Thank you to all who contributed!
