8 The Oregon Surveyor | Vol. 43, No. 1 2020 Annual Conference: Recap PLSO Conference 2020 Attendee Numbers and Breakdown • 373 Corporate Members • 111 Associate Members • 39 Special Members • 20 Retired Members • 30 Students • 28 Life Members W hat a great conference! If you were able to make this year’s PLSO Conference a part of your continuing education, we thank you so much for your time, efforts, and support. If you couldn’t make it to the conference this year, we’re sorry we missed you. However, we plan to make next year’s conference in Salem just as great of an event. This year was a truly fun event. I felt likewe had some great speakers come through and we’re able to provide a well-rounded and robust program. Maybe you got the opportunity to hear something newor see somebody who made you think in a new way about a particular topic or business practice. Hopefully you were also able to network with colleagues you only get to see in person once a year. Personal- ly, for me, the face-to-face connection is the silver lining of any conference. One goal I did have for the conference this year that I haven’t been able to achieve was to win one of the survey Olympic events. I keep trying and I keep getting closer, but I was not quite close enough. Congratulations to all the winners of this year’s contest, as well as the Map Con- test winners. I also want to give a shout out to all the students that were able to come and help out, learn, and meet potential employers. Without them the conference would not run as a smooth as it does each year. Getting to know them over the span of three-days proves to me that the future of the profession is look- ing better and better. By Jered McGrath, Conference Committee Chair
