These streams all have the same character- istics, being walled in on both sides by perpendicular basaltic rocks rising from 700 to 1000 feet to the plains above and are impassable except at the junction of the “Three Forks”. From the South fork, the country changes into an undulating sage brush and sandy waste, with little grass or water. The boundary measures by chaining 124 miles and 17 chains.
