The Oregon Surveyor July/August 2018

Professional Land Surveyors of Oregon | www.plso.org 7 From the PLSO Office to be a great teammember—sometimes pushing design ideas that left Greg and I nervous. Overall however, I have been very pleased with the way our maga- zine has been taking shape, keeping up with PLSO and always answering to what our purpose is—to represent and advance PLSO and the surveying pro- fession. I would like to make sure Greg knows what an important role he holds at PLSO and that my appreciation for him and his valuable time knows no bounds. Keeping all that in mind, I am especially pleased to brag about tying for first place in the NSPS Journalism awards for Best State Society Magazine and Best Edito- rial, “Cross-Pollination,” authored by our own Greg Crites. Congratulations to PLSO, Greg and Ben for their great work this year! The awards are well-deserved. x Best State Society Magazine Professional Land Surveyors of Oregon “The Oregon Surveyor - Volume 40, No. 5, September-October 2017” New Hampshire Land Surveyors Association “The Benchmark - Volume 38, Number 1 Winter 2017” Best State Society Newsletter New Hampshire Land Surveyors Association ”The TBM Newsletter of the NHLSA - Vol. 19. In case you haven’t caught the announce- ments in our PLSO E-Newsletter, please note that there are two new research tools available for surveyor use: 1) ODOT Maps and Plans center is now online and open to the Public. The fol- lowing link will take you to the web page where you can link to the “TransGIS” data portal to graphically locate the highway, route No. (ODOT secret highway num- ber), and Mile Point (ODOT official MP) for your area of interest. Then go to the “Online Map Center” link and search for RWmaps or Construction Plans using the information you got from the “TransGIS” to search, view and down- load PDF copies. Go here: https://www.oregon.gov/ODOT/ETA/ Pages/Tools.aspx 2) The Bonneville Power Administration (BPA) is nowproviding its Cadastral Surveys online for Idaho, Montana and Oregon. The data can be accessed through ArcGIS Online by searching for ‘BPA Cadastral’, then open the ‘APP’ icon at the bottom of the search. Go here: http://www.arcgis.com/index.html
