September 2017 CTEC Construction Industry Day By Christpopher Glantz, PLS Salem-Keizer School District Technical High School The Salem-Keizer school district operates a unique high school called the Career Technical Education Center (CTEC). CTEC describes itself as “…a joint venture between private industry and public education with the intent of helping Salem-Keizer students develop academic profi- ciency, technical skills, and certification, as well as the ‘soft skills’ needed to assure prepared- ness and success in both careers and college. Students will have the opportunity to enroll in advanced, career-related, skills-based course- work designed to help them explore a variety of career paths and explore post-secondary educational options.” CTEC is a “unique collab- oration” between a public-school district and a private enterprise.
