PAGD Keystone Explorer Spring 2021

Keystone Explorer | Spring 2021 1 from the editor’s desk | It has been my opinion regarding this publication that what makes it unique is its focused audience. It was my goal as Editor to bring to you the stories of PA dentists alongside quality clinical information. The familiar-named, referral only, public lecturing dentists can publish their dentistry over and over. There are plenty of ways for our readers to hear from those experts (including at our PEAK programs). But their boutique practices in Arizona or California are not where most of you work and the Pennsylvania-specific laws and regulations do not always apply to these impressive clinicians and their practices. You can’t always just do what they did and get their success. If you’ve witnessed your goals obtained by somebody with common background, then you could be more confident in seeking out those goals. By exposing the dentists in your state, counties, and neighborhoods that have already achieved your goals, or are working through your same obstacles, I hoped to eliminate some of those demographic disparities and help you to find more confidence in your decision- making as a clinician and practice owner as well as providing familiar names to mentor you along the way. Each practice has a point of pride that could be shared. By leveraging our local tricks of the trade, we can further enhance the collective dental health experience of Pennsylvania patients. I encourage all of our readers to be in contact with PAGD leadership and the incoming Editor to share our collective experience through the Keystone Explorer in order to better serve our communities. When you have worked on a project, only to pass it along to another, it is a noble desire to want to see the next project manager attain continued success and even greater success than you had achieved. Some of you may be experiencing these feelings as you prepare to retire and sell your practice. You hope that a positive reputation not only lives on, but is enhanced by the continued work of the next practice owner. It has been a pleasure serving as Editor of the Keystone Explorer and I’m thrilled to leave the publication in the hands of my good friend, Alex Frisbie. Alex and I met through PAGD at PEAK meetings, but learned coincidentally through our conversations that we actually attended high school together. He has always impressed me as an infallibly professional person with a comforting confidence. He will be sure to continue to enhance the value of Keystone Explorer to our valued members.
