OTA Dispatch Issue 4 2019
20 Oregon Trucking Associations, Inc. Oregon Truck Dispatch OTA’s Image Committee presented Boshart Trucking, led by Oregon House Representative Shelly Boshart Davis and her business partner Macey Wessels, with the Image Award (accepted by Alexis Cain). This is the second year that OTA has recognized a trucking company and its employees for elevating trucking’s image in Oregon and beyond. Boshart offers entry-level employment opportunities to youth and encourages a family-oriented culture within the organization internally and through external communication platforms, like social media. The company regularly recognizes their employees, especially drivers, and has even implemented an Inspection Incentive Program to maintain safety standards. They have been progressively upgrading their trucks in accordance with the “Clean Truck Program” to reduce diesel emissions. Boshart Trucking employees actively volunteer and host community events including the Adopt a Farmer Program, Linn County Fair, Oregon Ag Fest, and a pajama drive for foster children. They have received a tremendous amount of press coverage for these efforts and involvement in the local legislature. Shelly recently completed her first year as state legislator, where her passion for the industry and as a community activist shined through. Shelly and Macey are key go-to’s for OTA and have helped spread the importance of our industry through their involvement and recruiting others to take action. Boshart is a leader amongst women-owned trucking companies and the company is truly dedicated to serving its community. Applications for next year will be posted on the OTA website and promoted via OTA communication platforms as early as January. Image Award nominees are selected based on any combination of service to OTA and to trucking industry members, community involvement, legislative messaging that ensures the industry’s success, and corporate culture not limited to safety—all that promotes trucking in a positive light to the general public and policy-makers. Congratulations to all, and thank you for being such an inspiration in our industry! Accepted by Alexis Cain
