19 Issue 4 | 2019 www.ortrucking.org Committee Updates IMAGE chair: Mike Card, Combined Transport Congratulations to Boshart Trucking, this year’s Image Award Winner! Read all about it on page 20. The committee isn’t just about an awards, though. The purpose of the committee is to strategize ways the Association can promote the image of the trucking industry to the public, policy makers, and even other members. Some of the committee’s current projects include a trucking awareness video series, partnering with truck driving schools and workforce groups, recognizing our drivers, and more! Applications for the 2020 Image Award will be available as early as January and announced via OTA communication mediums. Interested in joining the committee? Contact info@ortrucking.org to get on the list. OTA IN ACTION chair: Mark Gibson, Siskiyou Transportation, Inc. The purpose of this committee is to help OTA develop relationships with key contacts outside our organization that can help us influence and spread the world about trucking and the issues pertinent to our industry. The committee is well underway with connecting our trucking industry members (we call them key contacts) with members of the legislature and individuals from other decision-making groups. Thank you to everyone that’s help us build this program! Do you know someone that might be beneficial for OTA to connect with? Contact us at info@ortrucking.org . “I encourage all OTA members, even members that historically have been reluctant to engage in the political process, to become involved in the OTA in Action Committee and the Key Contact program. One of the greatest things we can do as an association is to affect and monitor our legislators and our regulators. Sure, OTA has lobbyists, but it can’t be stressed enough that elected officials want to hear from constituents. We need key contacts throughout the state to help us keep in touch with the day to day workings in both our local communities as well as in Salem. Our committee members and OTA staff will help walk newcomers through the process.” –Mark Gibson, Siskiyou Transportation Watch for updates on the Allied, Government Affairs, Highway Policy, Membership, and Oregon Truck PAC in upcoming issues.
