Siskiyou Transportation has a single location set in the beautiful hills of Ashland, OR where they have both a trucking dock and a helicopter hangar for storage and maintenance. It’s the perfect spot for hauling to Oregon and Northern California. Through STI’s strong relationship with Timberland Logging, Mark started to manage Timberland Logging’s helicopter division. Mark started his trucking career as a driver, and even to this day, he maintains his CDL. As the company continued to grow, Mark and his dad Ed eventually purchased Timberland Logging’s interest and changed the name to Siskiyou Transportation (STI). Growth led to expansion and what began as a logging truck company moved into other areas of trucking in the early 90s. While logging is still the primary business, the company has operated dump trucks, snow cats, hazmat hauls, and heavy haul. STI currently operates log trucks, dump trucks and chip trucks that often haul biomass (leftover wood products from logging sites that is used as fuel for power generation plants), for a total of eight remaining trucks. History of Siskiyou Transportation Like many Oregon trucking companies, Siskiyou Transportation is a family operation. Current owner, Mark Gibson, now leads the company that his dad, Ed Gibson, started. Ed had been a city police officer for many years when he had a change of heart and switched his career to drive for a local sawmill. He was already familiar with the trucking industry, having been a part-time driver for several years. In 1981, Ed struck out on his own with a flatbed.
