CNGA LooseLeaf June/July 2019

22 colorad o nga.org LooseLeaf June/July 2019 The Colorado Horticulture Research & Education Foundation plays an integral role in encouraging and rewarding top-performing students at Colorado State University and Front Range Community College through scholarships, and contributes to research being conducted at CSU. Contributions are not only helping to secure the future leaders of the industry, but are also responsible for the most up-to-date science and best practices for all of our members. Funds for the foundation are primarily raised through two annual events: the CHREF Golf Tournament and the CHREF Silent Auc- tion at the CNGA Industry Celebration Happy Hour. Additionally, CHREF receives individual donations from various members. Thank you to all who have contributed over the years. Last year, because of your generosity, the golf tournament raised more than $13,000. The silent auction raised more than previous years as well, at almost $6,000. This year’s Golf Tournament will be held on Monday, September 23rd at the Riverdale Golf Course in Brighton, Colo. Registration is open and information can be found at coloradonga.org on the Events page. In previous updates, we have talked about the relationship between CHREF and CSU, and future opportunities to connect the green industry with students and become more active within the Depart- ment of Horticulture and Landscape Architecture. With the start of the Shepardson Building’s renovation this fall, these opportunities will begin to materialize and we will continue to update members on the foundation’s related activities and how members can contribute individually. We hope that you are having a great start to the season, and we look forward to the next steps in building the future of our industry.
