American Traffic Safety Services Association 44 Chapter News Illinois Chapter The Illinois Chapter of ATSSA met Sept. 11 in Schaumburg, Illinois, for their second meeting of 2018. There were 20 members, including three Illinois Department of Transpor- tation (IDOT) members present. The Nevada chapter met at the Regional Transportation Commission (RTC) in Las Vegas, Nevada, on Sept. 20, 2018. The chapter discussed the need for the association to be more involved with the Nevada Strategic Highway Safety Plan (SHSP). Guest speakers Valerie Hermanson and Caeri Thomas, both transportation planners from the Mid-Region Metropolitan Planning Organization, discussed the newly adopted Region- al Transportation Safety Action Plan (RTSAP). The plan was developed using New Mexico’s 2011–2015 crash data by The Ohio chapter met on Sept. 7, 2018, at the Ohio Depart- ment of Transportation Headquarters in Columbus, Ohio. There were 29 members in attendance, including two public officials. Chapter President Cecil Hulme of AWP presided over the meeting. Nick Hegemier, managing director of infrastructure for DriveOhio, was the meeting guest speaker. Hegemier pre- sented on DriveOhio and the future of connected vehicle Committees and task force members provided updates and reports. The chapter president reminded members to attend the upcoming annual Traffic Engineering and Safety (TES) conference in October, a collaborative effort provided by IDOT. The updated chapter bylaws were also ratified. Nevada Chapter safety partners from across the state, developed the plan in 2016. It is a statewide-coordinated safety plan that provides a comprehensive framework for reducing highway fatalities and serious injuries on all public roads. The chapter approved motions for planning a 2019 “How To Conference,” as well as to form a How To Conference plan- ning committee. The conference will be held in Columbus, Ohio on April 10, 2019.
