ANA\C The Nursing Voice Spring 2019

4  . The Nursing Voice . Spring 2019 Greetings, and thank you again for your valued membership in ANA California. As we start the new year, your association is working hard on many fronts. Between our coalition involvement, legislative monitoring and advocacy, and so many other areas, we remain busy as ever. RN Day at the Capitol is coming up which is an excellent opportunity to highlight where advocacy both begins and ends in many pieces of legislation. You have the opportunity to hear the firsthand testimony of experts that address current and past issues of legislation, and how nursing is poised in a perfect position to promote the advocacy of those who need to hear our voice. As President, I cannot say how proud I am of our many working and moving pieces in the association and how they are all functioning together seamlessly. So many lessons of teamwork and collaboration that we learned and honed within nursing are truly transitional to the association world. With our election process underway at the time of this writing, I am so pleased to see new names running for elected positions and the promise of individuals interested in the future of our association. This is further testimony to the effective nature of our current members reaching Phillip Bautista BSN, RN, PHN—President President’s Perspective 2019 President’s Summary out to those who want to become more involved, and to those who believe their talents and expertise are beneficial to the association. As always, I encourage you to reach out to any of our Board of Directors with questions within their scope or even how to get involved under their committees and/or task forces. This year promises to be an exciting year with legislation, political change, and numerous other areas for nurses to become involved. Our association continues to experience positive growth, creating new and improving existing relationships with coalition partners, and elevating the voice and position of professional nursing throughout the state of California.
