ANACA The Nursing Voice Fall 2019

6  . The Nursing Voice . Fall 2019 Report from ANA\C Director of Legislation Lindsay Duggan, MS, RN, BSN, CPHRM This summer was a summer full of change. In August 2019, for the first time ever, ANA\C’s held a second RN Day on the Capitol due to the overwhelming success and popularity of the event. Our April 2019 RN Day on the Capitol quickly sold out in less than two weeks and that gave the ANA\C Board of Directors the oppor- tunity to offer a second option for registered nurses to storm the CA State Capitol! I found the day to be inspiring and RNs from all over California gathered to network and discuss issues effecting their everyday practice. What did you think of the two RN Day’s on the Capitol? Send me a message about your thoughts! Looking towards the future, I am excited to offer RNs in Califor- nia a new way to become involved in upcoming legislative activities. I am pleased to announce the launch of the ANA\C Advocacy Network! This new platform is a way to stay informed about legislative activities and an opportunity for you to become involved in important initiatives. The ANA\C Advocacy Network will push out text message notifications directly to your mobile phone with updates on critical legislation and/or initiatives and will offer help on how to call/contact your legislator to deliver ANA\C message. The introduction of the Advocacy Network will create ground up essential support for important nursing legislation. To join, text ANACNURSES to 52886 . Want to become more involved in ANA\C? Consider joining some of our newly formed task forces. Reach out to our office to get talking points to start a discussion with your legislator or run for office. We need nurses in the legislator in Sacramento! Contact Lindsay— legislation@anacalifornia.org BOD Corner
