Southeast Michigan Contractors  Issue 4 2019 7 NEW STAFF MEMBERS Julie Barnes Maurer Regional Program and Student Outreach Coordinator jbarnesmaurer@abcsemi.org Julie has a diverse background ranging from education to construction with extensive time spent volunteering and fundraising. She has a passion for helping people and a major love affair with all things Detroit. Born in Detroit and raised in the suburbs, Julie is involved with Rotary and direct- ing and volunteering at area races. She is an avid racer and fundraiser for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, completing several Ironman and Half-Iron events while raising over $100,000 this year alone. She has 3 great kids: Charlie, a Spartan grad and NCAA diver; Jacob, an Albion grad and NCAA diver and pole vaulter; and Catie, currently attending Wayne State studying Music Education. Kim Gamet Director of Safety kgamet@abcsemi.org Kim is a veteran of the United States Navy who served overseas and on the USS George H. W. Bush. She has a background in law enforce- ment and construction safety. Kim was born and raised in Southeastern Michigan from a family of iron workers and graduated from Columbia Southern University with a bachelors in Occupational Health and Safety. Kim and her husband Jason have four kids: Harper (8), Isabella (9), Noah (10), and Samuel (13). She enjoys attending her kids sporting events, baking, reading and traveling with her family. Kelsey Giffin Event Planner Intern kgiffin@abcsemi.org Kelsey is planning on graduating from Madonna University with her Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management. She loves spending her free time camping, sailing, swimming, and spending time with her five nieces. She comes from a very large family that includes 46 cousins in her generation alone. Originally from the city of Warren, Kelsey spent a couple years living in the Upper Peninsula. She is also heavily involved in volunteering for a shelter that helps rehabilitate homeless veterans in the Metro Detroit area. New Friendly Faces A T O U R C H A P T E R
