WVFA Mountain State Forestry Winter 2020-21

Over the past two years, the committee has trained foresters to be American Tree Farm System (ATFS) inspectors. These foresters—who volunteer to do this service—are trained in ATFS Standards of Sustainability. Tree Farm Inspectors use the ATFS Standards to help woodland owners manage their properties so they can use their forest resources and assure those resources can be used by future generations. As we learn new ways to sustainably manage our woodlands, our guiding standards must adapt too. This donation by WestRock will be used to support the training of foresters in the new and upcoming 2020–2024 ATFS Standards.
