Monongahela National Forest Moves Forward in the Marlinton-White Sulphur District Upper Elk Ecological Restoration Project The Marlinton-White Sulphur District is in the early stages of developing the Upper Elk Project. Working with a variety of partners over the past three years, the Upper Elk watershed was identified as a priority for improving the health and resiliency of forests, providing landscape habitat connectivity and migratory corridors for wildlife, restoring red spruce and red spruce-northern hardwood ecosystems, and creating early successional habitat for wildlife species. www.wvfa.org Winter 2020-2021 | West Virginia Forestry Association Mountain State Forestry 13 F E A T U R E D N E W S
