Flagiello, Shalan, Buchalter, Mistretta, Libramonte, De Leonibus, Demas, Meiselman, Mindlin, Donato, Albicocco, Teplitsky, Merlino, Butt, Scibetta, Sager, Segelnick, Venterina, Carute, Richard and Quartey-Sagaille; Mr. Hackett EXCUSED: Drs. CORRESPONDENCE: (None) REPORT OF OFFICERS AND STAFF: President — Dr. Raymond Flagiello: • May 11: Attended the Carl Hastings fundraiser • May 16: EDPAC fundraiser for Governor Kathy Hochul at New York County Dental Society headquarters. Governor Hochul previously vetoed the “Wrongful Death Bill,” but Legislature is reintroducing this bill • May 24: Attended a democratic fundraiser supporting four democratic state senators • June 1–4: Attended NYSDA House of Delegates (HOD) in Saratoga Springs • Thanked Dr. Steven Gounardes for his proclamation from Senator Andrew Gounardes and for his many years of service as speaker of the HOD President Elect — Dr. Tricia Quartey-Sagaille: • Attended HOD; sat on the Reference Committee • Planning CE for her next year as president Treasurer — Dr. Phyllis Merlino: (given by Mr. Hackett) • GNYDM received installment allocation on May 18 from the 2022 Meeting. Expecting final allocation by end of June Executive Director — Mr. Bernard Hackett: • Building repairs schedule for the summer: roof ($5,000), electrical upgrade ($10,000), painting, $15,000 approved by voice vote • Dr. Reyes is asking for volunteers for community event scheduled for June 10 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. • Awaiting HOD report, will be forwarded shortly. Congratulated all delegates/alternates for a job well done. Also thanked Dr. Steven Gounardes for his many years of exceptional service Dr. Gounardes requested a moment and thanked all at SDDS for their many years of support while serving as NYSDA speaker of the House. NYSDA REPORTS: NYSDA Trustee Report — Dr. John Demas: Dr. Demas to email reports shortly Hospital Dentistry and CDEL Report — Dr. Pasquale: Emailed Peer Review–Dr. Man Sing Cheung — Dr. Pasquale: Emailed Council on Liability Insurance — Dr. Kirstin Wolfe: Emailed • Malpractice cases increased by 30% annually. Case review for District Committee will begin to wind down for good SDDS REPORTS: Greater New York Dental Meeting Report — Dr. Richard Oshrain: • Visa request letters are at their highest level ever • Booth sales are 808 (ahead of last year) • Sponsorship increased • Wednesday, 11/14: Start with dinner. Saturday night: Cocktail party. Monday: celebrity luncheon with Anthony Imperiale as guest speaker, thanks to Dr. Lorna Flamer-Caldera. Also scheduled happy hour on the exhibit floor and “puppy snuggle session” • Registration and program are all available online Richmond County Dental Society — Dr. Christen Carute: • June 8 golf outing at Richmond County Country Club • Working on the 2024 lecture series UNFINISHED BUSINESS: (None) NEW BUSINESS: (None) GOOD & WELFARE: • Dr. Mina Kim of New York County Dental Society would like to run a joint fishing charter trip on Oct. 1 out of Sheepshead Bay for a four-hour trip. Dr. Flagiello is taking the lead for SDDS due to his extensive fishing expertise • Dr. Richard Oshrain announced his retirement from private practice • Dr. Mitchell Mindlin thanked Dr. Gounardes for his friendship, mentorship and service • The director of the NYSD Foundation would like to visit SDDS with Dr. Cuomo sometime in the future ADJOURNMENT: Meeting adjourned at 8 P.M.
