REPORTS OF OFFICERS AND STAFF President — Dr. Michael Donato: • Our December board meeting will be live at Second District headquarters. • The Greater New York Dental Meeting (GNYDM) is just a few weeks away, so anyone who has not registered to volunteer must do so ASAP. President-Elect — Dr. Raymond Flagiello: • Working on our January installation luncheon, which will be held at the University Club. Treasurer — Dr. Valerie Venterina: • Reported on the balances in the Chase operating and savings accounts and the peer review escrow account. • The value of our Vanguard investment portfolio has rebounded slightly from last month’s report. • Our investment ratio is 50% stocks and 50% bonds. Executive Director — Mr. Bernard Hackett: • The 2023 continuing education program is coming along. The first presentation is scheduled for Feb. 24 on Staten Island (The Efron Lecture). • The November general membership meeting is this Thursday evening, Nov. 10. Everyone must register for the meeting and is expected to attend. • The first social events for 2023 will be the SDDS Installation at the University Club on Sunday afternoon Jan. 8 and the RCDS Installation at the Richmond County Country Club on Saturday evening, Jan. 28. • Preparations for the GNYDM are well on their way. • The GNYDM pre-meeting volunteer dinner will be held at the Marriott Marquis on Monday, Nov. 21 starting at 6 P.M. It is mandatory for all officers to attend. • Based on the financial outlook and return from this year’s GNYDM, we must be prepared to take whatever actions are necessary to keep operating expenses down going forward. • A quite successful peer review mediation workshop was held on Friday at SDDS headquarters. The State council staff has expressed an interest in using our workshop in other locations around the state. Board of Trustees — Dr. Demas: • Minutes have been previously emailed. • There is an ongoing search for a new NYSDA lobbyist. • Discussed the establishment of the Strategic Forecasting Committee at the ADA House of Delegates, its composition and duties. Council on Dental Benefit Plans — Dr. Buchalter: • Tomorrow is a big day in Massachusetts with the Medical Loss Ratio initiative on the ballot. It is strongly supported by the ADA as well as NYSDA. SDDS REPORTS: Greater New York Dental Meeting — Dr. Oshrain: • Everyone on the Board should volunteer to preside if they haven’t already done so. You are also expected to attend the pre-con meeting on Nov. 21. • Everyone on the Board is invited to the cocktail party and dance, which will be held on Saturday night, Nov. 26. • Total registration as of today for this year’s meeting is 21,151.
