They will be presented to the membership for a vote at the March 9, 2023 Scientific/Stated Meeting (aka General Membership Meeting). Background: The purpose of the amendments are to eliminate the officer position of Librarian Curator. The C&B Committee and Board examined the vacant position of the Librarian Curator and make a recommendation if the position should be filled or eliminated. The Committee discussed the necessities and duties of the position. The Committee and Board concurred that the position had outgrown its relevance and that there would not be a hardship if the position was to be eliminated. The Committee unanimously concurred that the position of Librarian Curator should be eliminated. Proposed: That the Bylaws of the Second District Dental Society be amended as follows (by deletion) (strikethrough): Article IX. Officers and Board of Trustees Section 1: Officers The Officers of this Society shall consist of a President, President-Elect, Vice-President, Secretary and Treasurer. and Librarian-Curator. Section 2: Board of Trustees The Board of Trustees shall consist of the President, President–Elect, Vice–President, Secretary, PROPOSED BYLAW AMENDMENTS Treasurer, Librarian–Curator, the Immediate Past–President, the elected Trustees and the representative from each branch society. Article X, Duties of Officers and Board of Trustees Section 4: Secretary Subsection 6. 1. maintain an accurate list of the names and addresses of the members of this Society, revise these lists as indicated, and notify the Librarian-Curator and Treasurer of additions or changes in this list Subsection 15. 1. notify the Treasurer, Librarian–Curator, insurance carriers, Secretary of The New York State Dental Association and the Editor of the Bulletin of the resignation, suspension, expulsion or reinstatement of any member Subsection 16. 1. notify the Treasurer, Librarian–Curator, insurance carriers, Secretary of The New York State Dental Association and the Editor of the Bulletin upon the death of a member Section 6: Librarian-Curator It shall be the duty of the Librarian-Curator to: 1. keep a catalogue and inventory of all property of the Society, with a record of the date of its acquisition, and the name of its donor or record of purchase 2. render an annual report to the Board of Trustees 3. serve as a member of the Benevolent Fund Committee 4. serve as a member of the Board of Trustees 5. serve as an Alternate Delegate to the New York State Dental Association House of Delegates. 6. serve as a member of the House Committee and the Administrative Committee. 7. perform such other duties as may be provided for in these Bylaws Article XII. Composition and Duties of Standing and Elected Committees Section 2: Administrative Committee A. Composition This Committee shall consist of the Chair of the House Committee, the Librarian-Curator and three other members. One member shall be appointed annually for three years. The member serving his/her last year of term of appointment shall serve as the Chair. Section 18: House Committee A. Composition This Committee shall consist of the Chair of the House Committee, the Librarian–Curator and three other members. One member shall be appointed annually for three years. Section 23: Nominating Committee In the event of the absence of or disability of the President, the President-Elect shall assume the duties of the President as outlined in this Section.
