SDDS “Shredfest” Makes a Comeback After a year of not being able to have its annual shredding events due to the pandemic, Second District Dental Society (SDDS) hosted two free shredding events last spring to help members rid their offices of old patient records. Over 50 members brought boxes of patient charts and X-rays to either the Staten Island Hilton on May 14 or to SDDS Headquar- ters on May 21, where they were destroyed in mobile shredding trucks in a HIPAA-compliant manner. SDDS President Dr. Babak Bina and SDDS members including Drs. Alyson Buchalter, Paul Teplitsky, Reneida Reyes and John Halikias, were also on site to assist with the process. Certifi- cates of Destruction were mailed to all members who participated in the events.
