PLSO The Oregon Surveyor September/October 2022

27 appears to be the longest run of one-party holding power in Oregon until 1987, which began the current unbroken string of Democrats in the office. He served one term from 1882 to 1887 and did not pursue re-election. He instead retired from public affairs and once again returned to The Dalles, where he ran a successful wool shipping business and ascended to the presidency of The Dalles National Bank. Moody lived the final years of his life in Salem and is buried at the City View Cemetery there.  References • Zenas Ferry Moody - Wikipedia • Malcolm A. Based on my research at the time of this writing, as the seventh governor of Oregon, he appears to be the only land surveyor ever to serve as the governor of our state. Oregon State Governor Zenas F.
