Heather says she would encourage anyone who isn’t already involved with the OTA to get involved not only because of how important the advocacy work is that it does, but also because she has benefitted a lot from the training provided by OTA and the regular communications and industry updates. Her husband Mike has also been engaged with the OTA, graduating from the Fleet Management program in May 2023. From growing up “playing office” to learning how to navigate regulations and the back end of a business, Heather’s commitment to getting the job done and finding creative solutions to growth have served her and her family business well. But she is quick to note that she’s just one half of Zwald Transport and the business she and her brother have grown from their parents’ original operation. “My brother and I are 50/50 owners,” said Heather. “We have gotten a lot of compliments over the years of working together as brother and sister. We have been really blessed. Our strengths and weaknesses compliment each other really well. It’s taken both of us and our team to make this happen and it’s very much a family affair.”
