In simple terms, start early! EVEN IN OUR technological times, operating a truck in Oregon still involves a lot of paperwork—including permits! For those interested, ODOT does allow Oregon carriers to carry an electronic version of some credentials. You can find a full list online. For the last few years, ODOT has also encouraged carriers to renew both registrations and weight-mile tax credentials using Oregon Trucking Online. Between the pandemic and ongoing staff shortages, connecting with a human can be a challenge. So, when it comes to annual OD permit renewals, ODOT just doesn’t have the analysts to meet the demand and instead recommends using associate agents…like OTA!
