When George Nielsen learned he was eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine, the 88-year-old Corvallis resident didn’t hesitate. He quickly made plans to attend a large-scale vaccination event at Reser Stadium on the Oregon State campus. When he arrived, Nielsen said he was struck by three things: the amazing efficiency of the opera- tion organized by Samaritan Health and Linn County Public Health, the kindness of the staff and volunteers, and the bitter cold on that February day when tem- peratures dipped into the low 40s.
