OAHHS Hospital Voice Spring/Summer 2021

15 Spring/Summer 2021 dose, and on June 19, the site closed down for good. When the All4Oregon site shut down, 550,000 vaccinations for 293,000 people had been delivered. Ready for the Future Though the OCC site is closed, the four health systems in the region will continue to offer vaccinations through their own clinics. The col- laboration between them may not be as consistent as it has been over the past year, but now that it’s obvious what can be accomplished when they all work together, there will no doubt be more cooperation in the future. Already, the four have collaborated on two rooms for treatment of Ebola at Legacy Good Samaritan should the need arise. Watson said there has also been talk of how the four might work together on other commu- nity health challenges like behav- ioral and mental health. One thing that’s for certain though: Should the need ever arise again for the four health sys- tems to come together and fire up a mass vaccination site during a pandemic, they’ll know just how to do it. “Once you get to know people per- sonally, it makes working together a lot easier going for- ward,” Olson said. “This is not a competition at all, it’s cooperation. If we find ourselves in this kind of a mess again—and it’s going to happen, let’s face it—the fact that we’ve worked so well together this time tells me that we’ll come back together to face any challenges thrown at us.” Just a few weeks after deciding that a mass vaccination site was the best bet, the OCC site started to come together. And it was then that each health system’s unique contribution came to the forefront.
