Thursday, June 7  Ticketed Events/Workshops  Special Events  Lectures Friday, June 7 Charles Schumacher, DDS Born and raised in Kansas City, and briefly in St. Louis, he graduated from Westminster College in Fulton, Missouri in 1982 with a BA degree in Biology. From there he attended UMKC Dental School, working while in dental school for a local orthodontic lab making retainers and appliances on the side. Senior year, he was accepted for an Air Force GPR, but he always wanted to move out west for recreation and outdoor opportunities, only if he could convince his fiancée and future wife, Sandy, to move from KC as well. When a dentist from Farmington reached out to the school looking for an associate/partner, he jumped on it, thinking it may be a 1-2-year tryout, then possible going back to KC for other opportunities. They made friends, had an excellent practice, and loved the area, so they stayed. Thirty-eight years later he is still practicing at the same office, with three partners. He has achieved Fellowships in the Academy of General Dentistry and the American College of Dentists, and Diplomate of the American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine. He is Past President of the NMDA, and Past Chair of the NM Board of Dental Health Care. He was instrumental in starting the Mission of Mercy here in New Mexico. Now concentrating his practice in Dental Sleep Medicine and TMJ Disorders, he is working three days per week and enjoying more time in Dallas, where he and Sandy have a second home. Their daughter, Sydney, is also in Dallas working for Southwest Airlines as a Senior Data Analyst for Marketing.
