Thursday, June 6  Ticketed Events/Workshops  Special Events  Lectures Health, Wellness, and Burnout for Dental Professionals Fourth Leg of the Quadruple Aim Dentists Administrators Dental Hygienists Dental Assistants 9am–12pm, Thursday 6/6 LOCATION: TEXAS TYPE: REGULAR SESSION CEU: 3 DESCRIPTION: The wellness of a provider is directly related to the wellness of their patients. In this course, we will unpack wellness trends in healthcare and discuss the challenges of wellness that we have experienced, before and after the pandemic, as a profession and as individuals. We will explore the dynamic of mental wellness and identify methods of prevention and practice that create meaningful solutions across the spectrum of wellness. OBJECTIVES: • Define wellness, wellbeing, and health in the context of professional and personal lives. • Summarize wellness trends and emerging topics in the arena of healthcare and dentistry. • Identify resources available to dentists to maintain and reattain wellness. • Articulate tangible and accessible ways to integrate wellness in to practice and personal life which adapt to individual needs. • Summarize the concept of the Triple Aim and reflect on how wellness fits into this framework. Ethics and Leadership: An Exploration of Personal and Professional Identity Dentists Dental Hygienists 1–4pm, Thursday 6/6 LOCATION: TEXAS TYPE: REGULAR SESSION CEU: 3 DESCRIPTION: This course will provide a comprehensive exploration of the principles, practices, and challenges of leading with integrity, empathy, and moral responsibility. Participants will develop a deep understanding of ethical decision-making, communication, and building a culture of trust within their practices. Through case studies, interactive discussions, and real-world scenarios, this course equips practitioners with the knowledge and skills to navigate complex ethical dilemmas and become catalysts for positive change in their professional and personal spheres. OBJECTIVES: • Discuss ethical decision making and apply frameworks to real life case studies. • Cultivate practical skills to foster an ethical culture while promoting transparency, fairness, and accountability in leadership. • Examine ethical leadership from a global perspective, considering diverse cultural norms, values, and legal frameworks. Amisha Singh, DDS Amisha Singh, DDS, is a Denver native and loves living in beautiful Colorado. She is faculty at the University of Colorado School of Dental Medicine and serves as the Director of Diversity and Inclusion. It is here that she pioneered the inaugural use of the Restorative Justice process for the Anschutz Medical Campus. She is now a national facilitator and trainer for restorative practices, specializing in Bias Related Harm. She has dedicated her career to innovation, equity and inclusion in higher education and healthcare. She serves on the Colorado Dental Association (CDA) and American Dental Association (ADA) House of Delegates, on the ADA Dental Wellbeing Advisory Committee, the ADA National Advisory Committee on Health Literacy in Dentistry, the ADA Women in Leadership Thinktank, on the ADEA HURM Advisory Group, and on the MDDS and CDA Membership Councils. She was the 2019 CDA New Dentist Committee Chair for Colorado. She is a proudly inducted member of the Pierre Fauchard Academy, the International College of Dentists, and the American College of Dentists. She is also a key opinion leader, blogger and professional speaker who travels the country to inspire other healthcare professionals and advocate for DEI, wellness, leadership, business strategy, and professional development. She writes for numerous publications, serves on the editorial board for Dental Entrepreneur Women’s magazine, the Dental Economics Editorial Advisory Board, the DentistryIQ Advisory Board, and as co-editor of the MDDS Articulator. She is the Editorial Director of the Dental Academy for Continuing Education. Amisha won the International College of Dentists Annual Excellence in Journalism Award in 2019. She has also served as a Workforce Diversity Consultant for the Colorado Department of Public Health and worked to help recruit underrepresented minorities to the professions of dentistry and medicine. She has also owned her own dental start-up practice, Smile Always Dental. She currently serves as an ADA Success Speaker, participates in the ADA Institute of Diversity in Leadership and is the founder of the CDA Diversity in Leadership program. She was recognized as one of the 2017 10 Under 10 Top ADA Dentists nationally. Her passion is encouraging entrepreneurial spirit, inspiring others and she wants to dedicate her life to helping create equitable paths to success for all.
