NDA Journal Spring 2023

Spring 23 www.nvda.org 23 NNDS President’s Message Hannah Beus NNDS President’s Spring Message Hello from the NNDS! As we approach spring and witness the new growth around us, we may also find that desire for renewal within ourselves. Mental health seems to be discussed more than ever after navigating a pandemic and the post- pandemic anxiety, stress, and depression in our dental community—including dentists, staff, and patients. Have you had anyone ask you what you’re doing for selfcare? Or have you had someone to connect with, and feel comfortable discussing any stresses you’re experiencing? Studies are showing many are carrying a heavier mental burden. The NDA has been offering Winter Wellness meetings where you can find ideas for you, your staff, and patients to discuss and improve where we may be ailing. We don’t just want to cope, we want to succeed and enjoy our lives and relationships. Watch for the postings from the NDA in your email where you can learn meditations, mindfulness, life coaching, sound baths, motivational discussions, and more! I am so grateful the NDA has put a focus on this; another benefit of being a member! As for our CE dinner meetings, we continue to fill the room with fabulous attendees and fun and interesting speakers! We are so happy to watch all the mingling and connections being made each month at these meetings. There’s nothing better than that hum of joyful conversations before and after we share dinner and continue our dental education. It’s a win-win and I couldn’t be more grateful for all of you for recognizing the value of our community and tapping into this benefit. Our next meeting is discussing Oral Pathology, “Stuff Happens” on Thursday, March 9 at 7:00pm with Dr. Douglas Damm, 2.5 CEUs. We luckily booked him again Friday, March 10 8:00am–3:00pm for “Hot Topics in Oral Pathology” 6 CEUs. You may remember him from past CE meetings. He is entertaining and informative, and these topics benefit all aspects of dentistry. It will be a great event, don’t miss it! I’m so proud of our profession and community. The strides that are being made to improve dentistry as a whole are promising and hopeful. I am grateful to see so many dentists who desire to be involved and contribute to changing the future in the best way. I’m honored to call you colleagues, and more importantly, friends. If you want to connect, please don’t hesitate to reach out to your local leaders, we are here to serve you!0
