ABC-SEMI Southeast Michigan Contractors Issue 3, 2024

8 Associated Builders and Contractors, Inc. NEW BOARD MEMBERS New Board Members Luke Beach CEO/Founder Independence Commercial Construction, Inc. Luke got his start in construction early on in high school in a building trades program before he found his way to Construction Education Trust, now known as SEMCA, to start his formal training. While at CET, he worked for Onslow-Sheffield, Inc. as an apprentice. While there, Luke was quickly connected to the ABC side during his training, making ties in the industry in SE Michigan. Upon completion of training, Luke and his wife spent a few brief years in Dallas, Texas where Luke opened his first construction business specializing in commercial interiors. Family moved them back home to Michigan, and soon thereafter, Luke started Independence Commercial Construction, Inc. in 2008. Fast food restaurants kept them afloat during the downturn of the economy and since then what was started with four people remodeling McDonalds, has turned into a large operation that services restaurants, retail spaces, schools and multi-housing projects. We look forward to his leadership on the ABC Southeastern Board of Directors. To connect with Luke and his businesses, you can reach him at luke@independencecommer cial.com. I look forward to growing our reach and awareness as an association in SE Michigan. I think our members have something to be proud to be a part of, and I can’t wait to be an ambassador for that. Tad Martin Owner TMX Contracting Tad got his start in the industry through his family. Both of his grandfathers, three uncles and father owned construction companies, and Tad could not wait until his time came! Tad’s dad would sneak him into construction jobs on weekends and holidays when he was very young. He could drive a company truck the summer he turned sixteen and was given his own jobs and crew. Most recently Tad and his son Tye started TMX Contracting, a mechanical company, just three years ago. Family has been at the forefront of Tad’s career. He partners in a tree removal company with his son Daniel, and helps manage a landscape company that is owned by his wife Leanna and daughter Anna Mae. Tad has been heavily involved in ABC, having been the chairman for the trade school board of trustees and now is transitioning to the ABC Board of Directors. Tad’s shared values with the association have him interested in helping members protect, grow and defend their businesses. We look forward to the leadership Tad brings to the ABC Board of Directors. To connect with Tad, you can reach him at tad@tmxcontracting.com. Having helped tackle the challenge of getting a school built in Westland, I’m ready for a new challenge on the ABC side. I’m ready to serve the membership and continue to seek ‘the next challenge’ for us to work on.
