Southeast Michigan Contractors Issue 2 2023 21 INTRO OF THE NEW ABC MICHIGAN PRESIDENT The Associated Builders and Contractors of Michigan announced the selection of Shane Hernandez as the organization’s next President. Hernandez will begin work on April 3. An architectural designer, builder, and project manager, Hernandez previously represented the Thumb area in Michigan’s House of Representatives. Hernandez has worked for 12 years in commercial architecture. His legislative experience also includes years working with voters and lawmakers as the Director of Policy and Director of Caucus Services with the House. “I couldn’t be more excited to join an organization that combines both my passions—construction and public policy,” said Hernandez. “I look forward to combining my knowledge, my experience, and my passion for free enterprise as I advocate for workers and builders across the state of Michigan.” Shane Hernandez, incoming ABC Michigan President. Shane Hernandez Picked to Lead ABC Michigan as Incoming President Hernandez follows Jimmy E. Greene, who has led ABC Michigan since August 2020. His remarkable leadership expanded ABC’s voice at the state capital during an unprecedented global pandemic while ably protecting the rights of more than 100,000 craft trade professionals. “My 15 years at Associated Builders and Contractors have been the best years in my professional life, and I’ve had no greater honor than protecting merit shops and their members,” said Greene. “Shane and I have been friends for years, fighting side-by-side for the same principles. I can’t think of anyone I’d rather see carry on the fight to defend workers and builders than him. ABC Michigan is in great hands.” Greene will continue with ABC of Michigan through the spring.
