Summer 2018

I N D U S T R Y N E W S 8 West Virginia Forestry Association Mountain State Forestry  | Summer 2018 www.wvfa.org Good News from ‘Budding’ Foresters GOOD MORNING! Just wanted to send WVFA some positive feedback. I was doing an environmental education program with some elementary students this past weekend, and when they were doing a conservation webquest they ended up on your webpage (this page here: wwwvfa.org/ links) The kids thought I should tell you that we were using the links there and found some great information, so thanks. Also, they decided it would be nice of us to return the favor, so they picked out a good conservation page for us to share! "Home Science: Backyard Conservation" – www.homeadvisor.com/r/ home-science-backyard-conservation: It has lots of great info for kids on conservation, so they thought it'd be a useful link for you to add to the conservation education links on that page they found—would that be possible? They'd be so excited and I'd love to show them their suggestion. Thanks so much and have a good day! Sincerely, Miss Hannah Ainsworth, Laura, Ashley, Jordan, and Lane  WV Regulatory Reform Continues GOV. JIM JUSTICE has issued an executive order as a part of his continuing efforts to enact regulatory reform. The executive order provides for an expedited process for all permits including: ƒ ƒ Permitting for all projects. ƒ ƒ Prioritization of permits for projects of critical economic concern. ƒ ƒ Requiring executive state agencies to file written reports to the permit applicant, executive director of the state Development Office, and Governor, explaining inaction on completed permit applications for projects of critical economic concern. ƒ ƒ Establishing an annual reporting requirement from the Development Office to the Governor and Legislature explaining whether the program is operating successfully. Earlier this year, as reported here, the Governor signed executive orders establishing a regulatory moratorium and regulatory review. Along with the legislature’s passage of bills, these actions all address over-regulation in West Virginia. Over 1,360 rules in the WV Code of State Rules have been repealed.  Executive Order
