W V L O G G E R S C O U N C I L N E W S www.wvfa.org Fall 2017 |  West Virginia Forestry Association Mountain State Forestry 19 2017 Region 1 Loggers of the Year 2017 WEST VIRGINIA LOGGER OF THE YEAR nominations were processed on time, site inspections conducted by the WVFA Logger of the Year Committee and moved through the review process as planned. The Committee chair is Tom Crickenberger (WestRock). The 2017 Region 1 winner was Dallison Logging. Dallison Logging began operations in 1867. Today, the 5th generation operators are Tom & Trent Dallison. They average 110 mbf/week with a crew of seven including their truck driver and utilize hand-felling, three Franklin skidders and two John Deere dozers. They conduct monthly documented Safety Meetings. Primarily these loggers contract for AWP’s Jacksonburg mill. They are a multi-year winner of DOF Logger of Excellence, are members of WVFA and WVLC, and contribute time and funds to local sports teams. Dallison also won in 2016. The Region 2 Loggers of the Year were J&L Trucking.  2017 Region 1 Winner DALLISON LOGGING
