16 West Virginia Forestry Association Mountain State Forestry  | Fall 2017 www.wvfa.org E V E N T S WVFA Awards its Members THE 2016 WVFA FORESTER OF THE YEAR AWARD was presented to Barry Cook, of the WV Division of Forestry, for his dedication and leadership in “stepping-up” to assume the duties of State Forester, this year. The 2016 WVFA Service Award was presented to the Wood Technology Center, in Elkins, for specific recognition for their ongoing commitment of service to West Virginia and the WV forest products Industry. The 2016 WVFA Environmental Education Award was presented to the Ed Kraynok, of Coastal Timberlands, for his work in establishing the new WVFA magazine, “Mountain State Forestry.”  Annual Meeting WVFA Annual Meeting THE 2017 WVFA ANNUAL CONFERENCE is all wrapped-up. But the memories of our good times will remain for decades. We can report great attendance and good times. We can also report that we are extremely pleased about a big jump in attendance of one 340 (continuing a four-year trend).  Timber & Wood Queen, Miranda Kalaskey, competing in the Pulpwood Toss.
